If your student needs access to their phone for medical accommodations, contact the school administration.
Your student will always have access to email. In case of an emergency, contact the school office.
Teachers will be directed not to use cell phones for instructional activities.
In most cases, yes. However, some coaches may extend the use of Yondr pouches to practice time as well.
FCS had rules against students using cellphones in class, but having to constantly enforce those rules took time, energy, and focus away from teaching. 33% of middle school teachers and 72% of high school teachers surveyed nationwide say that students being distracted by their cell phones is a “major problem” in their classroom, and 30% say cell phone policies are “somewhat” or “very difficult” to enforce. By restricting cell phone use, our teachers can spend more time teaching and less time asking students to put their phones away.
During an emergency, students and staff are directed to follow our emergency response plans. Every classroom is equipped with a phone for such emergencies.
The school will be in contact with families during emergency situations. Law enforcement officials have reported that cell phones create a distraction for students that can compromise their safety during an emergency. Cell phone use can also alert an intruder to their location.
Daily Procedures
Start of Day:
Power off or place devices on airplane mode after arriving on campus.
Place devices in Yondr Pouch and lock securely before entering the building.
Store the Yondr pouch in your backpack and arrive at class on time with the pouch secured.
During School Day:
Keep devices always locked in a Yondr pouch.
For off-campus appointments, unlock and relock the pouch at the main office.
End of Day:
Unlock the Yondr pouch at dismissal to retrieve devices. Empty the Yondr pouch and store it for the next day.
Yondr pouces will be distributed to students at the first of each school year.
Please see the Cellular Devices Policy for consequences.
If a student damages or loses their pouch, school staff will collect the phone/pouch and send it to the front office for the remainder of the school day. The student will be assessed a $50 replacement fee.
Students will be subject to disciplinary action, including confiscation, detention, and temporary loss of phone privileges.
Yes. Phones never leave the possession of the students, unless confiscated for policy violations.
With an approved dismissal, students will be able to unlock their devices at the front office before leaving school. If they need to return to school, the pouch will be locked upon re-entry.
The student may return to school to unlock their phone. Otherwise, they will have to wait until the next morning’s arrival.
When pouches are distributed each year, each one will be numerically assigned to a student. School staff will record the pouch assignments, but students will be personally responsible for their pouch for the duration of the school year and keep their pouch with them at all times during the school day.
No. While we do not have individual portable unlocks for each teacher, there will be designated locations for unlocking pouches.
